Regardless of the state of the world due to war, persecution, and political upheaval, we can take comfort in knowing that Jesus is still the Savior. The question we must ask ourselves is whether or not we really believe that. If we claim to believe the Gospel of Christ, are we willing to proclaim His message through our words and actions?

The focus of my thoughts on the four last things--death, judgment, heaven and hell--has helped me to embrace the Scripture readings of these first two Sundays of the season. How much thought, prayer, and meditation do we really give to our eternal destiny?
