The pro-life weekend began yesterday evening with a holy hour for reparation and healing. Today began with Mass at 9:00 A.M. and a complimentary breakfast immediately following. It was good to see folks from all across the state of Wyoming in attendance. As I write this post, we are gearing up for the march and then the banquet this evening. Look for additional pictures of these events later in the weekend.

"It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit." ~Harry S. Truman I understand that life can be challenging at times. My reflection questions are straight to the point today: 1. Are you able to stay rooted in prayer when it feels like your world is crumbling down around you? 2. What do you intend to accomplish during your days on this earth? 3. How will you lift others up and add value to their lives? "For all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these, 'It might have been.'"
~John Greenleaf Whittier People who faithfully follow their particular sports teams can become disheartened during a losing season. Second guessing the coaching staff or the front office personnel has become quite a pasttime. Although millions of dollars are involved in these endeavors, I frequently remind myself that we are still talking about a GAME. Our spiritual journey in this life is not a game. When we reach the end of our days here on earth, will we be satisfied with how we lived the days entrusted to us? Will there be regrets? My challenge to you today is a simple reminder that you are called to be a saint. Will you accept the invitation? Please don't wait until the end of your life before pursuing sanctity. Start today. Don't reach the end of your days only to echo the words of John Greenleaf Whittier, "It might have been." Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. How frequently do you give thought to your own baptism? What does this sacrament mean for your life?
"At Baptism I received grace--that quality that makes me share in the very nature of God." ~Mother Angelica Tomorrow, we enter back into Ordinary Time. We will continue in Ordinary Time through February 13. On February 14 we celebrate Ash Wednesday and enter into our Lenten journey. How do these changes during the liturgical year impact your spiritual life? Epiphany--"to manifest, make known, or shine upon."
How did Christ make Himself known to the world? 1. The visit of the magi. 2. The baptism of the Lord. 3. The miracle at Cana. How do these events impact our life of faith? Do we truly believe what we profess each week when we pray the Creed? "Good Judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment." ~Will Rogers
We each have a story. We live, and hopefully, we also learn along the way. What do we do with that knowledge and experience? The call to holiness can be drowned out by the noise of the world. Bad habits can creep into our lives. Attachment to sin is real. If we truly believe that we are meant to spend eternity with God, should we not focus on uniting our will to the will of God in the here and now? "Only Those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go."
~T. S. Eliot "Jump, and you will find out how to unfold your wings as you fall." ~Ray Bradbury "Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect." ~Mark Twain What are you going to do with the gift of time that God has given you? How will you bring Christ's love to others? How are you going to make a difference in the world? |
