The 54 Day Rosary Novena has become a favorite prayer of mine in recent years. I have found it to be quite powerful and it renews my prayer life substantially. A novena is nine days of prayer. The 54 Day Rosary Novena is simply six consecutive novenas in a row. The first three novenas are prayed in a spirit of petition. These 27 days (9 days x 3) focus on the intentions for which we are praying. The next three novenas focus on thanksgiving. These 27 days (9 days x 3) are offered in gratitude whether or not we have seen an answer to our petitions. We are trusting God's providence and moving forward in gratitude. Thus, we pray for a total of 54 days.
The novena starts today on the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It ends on October 7. That date lands on a Sunday this year and we will be celebrating the 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time. However, it would typically be a day we celebrate Our Lady of the Rosary. The timing for this novena to begin and end on a Marian Feast Day makes this a perfect spot to offer the 54 day novena. I invite you to do this. You will not be disappointed.
