First Communion on Saturday and the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday made for a full weekend. One parishioner who had a child in both celebrations asked if I had a cot at the church. While I certainly spent a lot of hours on campus over the weekend, those parents also spent a significant amount of time here as well. It was worth the time and effort to see the joy of the children. We had some beautiful celebrations.
Photos on social media showed that many parishes across the country had First Communion this past weekend. I extend my congratulations to all of the families experiencing these milestones in the faith journey of loved ones. This time of year always brings plenty to celebrate--Communion, Confirmation, and Matrimony are premier sacraments we see this time of year. Throw in some graduations and we have much to appreciate in regard to family life.
