Bishop Sheridan (top left) was an auxiliary bishop in St. Louis when I was ordained a deacon. He later went on to become the bishop of the Diocese of Colorado Springs, and he served in that role until his retirement. I just received word today that he died this morning after a brief battle with cancer.
As I look at this photo from June 5, 1999, I realize that none of us are "spring chickens" any more. However, it is a sobering thought to think that out of the 13 individuals in the picture, five of them have been called home to the Lord.
"Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the soul of Bishop Sheridan, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen."
