The message on Monday evening will focus on Faith. What do we believe? Why do we believe it? Finally, how does it make a difference in the way we live our day-to-day lives?
On Tuesday, I will focus the message on Hope. How do we maintain the virtue of hope when life is difficult? I believe this message is especially important to help understand suffering in our lives. Some of the television preachers who preach a gospel of "name it and claim it" to induce people to follow a "health and wealth" teaching is a bit troublesome. I want to spend time looking seriously at our journey with Christ and why we can be people of hope because of our relationship with Him.

After Mass on this last night of the parish mission we will have opportunities for prayer on an individual basis. {Priests will also be available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.} I will stay and pray (along with a team of people) with any individual who desires to have their needs brought before the Lord in a very specific manner. I offer this kind of prayer experience because I firmly believe in the message we will hear in this weekend's Gospel. "Again, amen, I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray, it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." (Matthew 18: 19-20) I firmly trust this promise of the Lord.
Other details about the parish mission will be filled in as we get closer to the date. It is my understanding that food and fellowship will be offered each evening prior to the start of the mission. (Having food is always a good thing!) This will be an exciting time for our Cathedral parishioners to grow in our relationship with the Lord and with one another. Please mark your calendars and plan to be part of the experience from March 9--11, 2015.
