I realize that we are not celebrating the Easter Vigil today, but this photo reminds me of the privilege that I enjoy being assigned as a deacon to the Cathedral of St. Mary in Cheyenne, Wyoming.  Working with Bishop Etienne in the chancery office makes these moments in the liturgical life of the Church even more special.  It is with great joy that the Diocese of Cheyenne celebrates the sixth anniversary of Bishop Etienne's ordination and installation as our bishop.

Our day began today with the 6:45 A.M. Mass at the Cathedral.  We had the bishop, the three priests from the cathedral, a couple of deacons, most of the chancery staff, and of course, the usual daily Mass attendees all in attendance.  It was a wonderful way to start the day.  Thankfully, it was much warmer today than it was six years ago when the ordination took place.

After Mass the chancery staff gathered in our conference room to enjoy a light breakfast.  It was nice to grab a few minutes to simply enjoy the company of one another and express gratitude for what these past six years have brought into all of our lives.  We are blessed indeed.

I wish to express my gratitude today to Bishop Etienne for his ministry.  I am extremely grateful that you said "yes" to this call.  Please know of my prayers for you as you carry the burden of leadership in our diocese.  May you always find strength, courage, hope, and perseverance in your ministry!  May you also experience immense joy and peace!

I am also grateful for all of my co-workers at the chancery.  Each of you remind me of God's abundant goodness.  May the remainder of this Advent season bring each of you graces beyond measure!
