Life has its share of challenges. It is sometimes not an easy journey as we deal with sickness, death, unemployment, financial difficulties, addictions, broken relationships, and a laundry list of other hardships. How do we cope on a day-to-day basis when things are tough?
In addition to our own personal struggles, society as a whole has its own share of challenges. We are far from being a united nation--much less a united world. Things don't appear to be getting any better on that front. The divisiveness in our country seems to grow with each passing day. Even selling shoes is now a political divide (in addition to being a very calculated marketing tactic).
I read a statistic yesterday that I did not research any further for accuracy, but I assume it is factual. It said that more than 1,000 people had been shot in the city of Chicago between Memorial Day and Labor Day. What a sad statistic! The dignity and value of each human life from conception through natural death is far from being understood in our culture.
Unfortunately, crime can happen anywhere. I live in a "good" neighborhood, but tragedy struck just two doors down from us two evenings ago. A shooting left one dead and another injured with multiple gunshot wounds.
My dear readers, give God thanks and praise for the loved ones in your life. Pray for them. Pray for our world. May each of us experience the transforming love of God in a dramatic and powerful fashion!
