It has been awesome getting out and visiting with business owners and managers. I am seeing kindness and generosity up close and personal.

I was inspired by Sara's T-Shirt (pictured above).  It was from last year's Firecracker 5K.  I look forward to getting my T-shirt for this year's 5K which takes place tomorrow.  I am sure my pace at the 5K will simply astound folks.

Yesterday was a day of photos, videos, and interviews for WYO GIVES.  Shelly and I joined with leaders from non-profits all across the county to create videos, get photos, and generate energy for WYO GIVES.  If you live in Wyoming, I hope you will support your favorite charity on July 14, 2021.

What do I do at my new job besides getting my photo taken?

I am working with our campaign chairs and the board to get the annual campaign up and going.  Our kick-off event will be on August 12 at the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens.  It will be a fantastic campaign, and we are going to be able to continue to financially support more than 20 non-profit organizations across the county.  These organizations are doing great work.  Our ability to raise money and support their direct services is huge.  We are truly blessed to have some high caliber non-profits in the region.

Our campaign chairs are also organizing a Chalk Art Fundraiser on July 17.  It is my understanding that a big part of my responsibility that day is showing up and taking photos of the chalk art to post on social media.  I will also be getting my photo taken with the chalk art and handing out awards at the end of the day.  Yes, it may appear that other people do the work and I stand around for photos and take credit.  Ummm.  Okay.  That could be an accurate description.

On the same day as the Chalk Art Festival, Margaret and I will be fitted for our proper attire to participate in an event coming up at the end of July.  Yes, we will be riding in the Cheyenne Frontier Days parade on Thursday, July 29.  What will we be riding in?  Let your imagination ponder that for a while.  Giddy-up!

I am working with staff and volunteers to participate in a fundraiser with the Burns Lions Club on September 11.  A gracious donor has sparked some new ideas and a new approach to reaching out to the communities in Eastern Laramie County.  Watch for details as we get them ironed out.

Have a wonderful holiday weekend.  Please say a prayer for our country.  Give thanks to God for the freedom we enjoy and for the many sacrifices that have been made to maintain that freedom.  Please pray for government officials.  Ask God to touch their hearts with His amazing grace, so that they govern with wisdom and prudence.

May we truly become...
"One Nation Under God, Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for All."
