If you are ever driving Interstate 80 through Nebraska and find yourself in between Lincoln and Omaha, you may look up and see the Holy Family Shrine along the way. While you have to get off the highway a few miles, and the last mile is gravel road, it is worth a stop. (Take your allergy pills if you visit during growing season. There is a lot of vegetation.) My parents are both deceased, but today is their 77th wedding anniversary. We may not have always reflected the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, but we tried. I am grateful for the upbringing I had. Furthermore, I truly appreciate the people of Old Monroe, Missouri and, in particular, the parishioners of Immaculate Conception Parish. There were many folks there striving to live a genuine life of faith. Thank you for your example. May we each grow in wisdom, grace, and holiness every day of our lives. Faded picture. Some of the memories are fading as well. Still blessed! (September 1992)
