It's A Walk In The Park--Jarvis Creek Park

There are many places to get outdoor exercise on Hilton Head Island.  With many miles of paved pathways on the island, it is a great place to bicycle or walk. Walking on the beach is certainly not a bad way to get some exercise as well. Jarvis Creek Park is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to go.  I enjoy watching the animals in their natural habitat--as long as I can keep a safe amount of distance in between us.  I had the opportunity to visit the park again recently.

Although a heavy downpour of rain earlier in the day had caused the water to be a little murky, I was still able to see several alligators pretty clearly and a few turtles as well.

I did not see any gators near that size, but the smaller ones are fascinating creatures to watch nonetheless.

This one decided to swim right up to the dock area.  It was nearly dark and my camera did not quite get in focus, but I thought I would share the photo with you anyway.  The way it swam right up to the dock makes me think that some people in the past may not have heeded the signs about not feeding the alligators.  It looked a little too comfortable swimming right up to the dock.

While we lived in Wyoming, I enjoyed seeing many of the "big-game" animals across the state.  Making trips to Estes Park, Colorado to watch the elk up- close was always a treat as well.  I was able to see moose, bighorn sheep, and deer on a number of occasions during my travels throughout the state of Wyoming.  The antelope were always around.  A bear also once wondered through our yard.

Each part of the country offers something unique.  (In Missouri we had groundhogs.)  Seriously, I enjoyed the rivers and lakes of Missouri.  The fall colors were always something I waited to see too.  Going to Clarksville, Missouri in the fall was a double treat.  I could watch the barges go through the lock and dam and enjoy the colors of the trees at the same time.

Take some time to appreciate the variety and beauty of God's creation during this autumn season regardless of where you are.  Have a blessed October!
