What was the last major decision you made in your life?  What process did you use to reach your conclusion?  What role did prayer play in your discernment?  Do you typically get a sense of God's presence as you grapple with important questions and issues?

Deciding what college to attend, which job to take, whether or not to accept a promotion, and numerous other decisions can be stressful.  Making life-long commitments such as getting married or becoming a priest or religious can also be daunting decisions.  There are huge ramifications to these major life decisions.  We want to do it well.

The college search is rather prevalent in our household these days.  I am concerned about a number of factors as we do our research.  Can we financially afford a private school that is in line with our values?  Which schools offer the particular program of study that is being desired?  Should we stay in the local area or go off where it may be more fun to be away from mom and dad?  Would a junior college be appropriate or should a four year university be the main objective of the search?  As I watch the antics at the University of Missouri i don't think it will be on the short list of prospective destinations.

Sometimes we just need to sit in the presence of the Lord and ponder!
