This afternoon I am going to make a private visit to a memorial site and spend some time in prayer on this National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children. After watching the videos from the Center for Medical Progress I am even more convinced of the necessity of keeping this issue in front of people. We cannot let the horrendous practices depicted in those videos to continue. We must stand up for life from conception through natural death.
The Wyoming Council of Catholic Women State Convention begins tomorrow and runs through Tuesday. I am looking forward to speaking at this gathering on Monday morning at the Little America Hotel and Conference Center.
Then it is onto Laramie for the annual September Institute from Tuesday through Thursday at the Hilton Garden Inn and Conference Center. This gathering brings together all of the clergy and lay leaders from across the diocese for continuing education and opportunities for prayer. Since the diocese is so large geographically, these events to be joined together as one community serve an awesome purpose of bringing us unity and fellowship.
Friday through Sunday I will be leading the Deacon and Spouse Retreat in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. This will be my first time speaking in the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau. It will be good to spend this time with my brother deacons and their wives in southern Missouri.
These next eight days will be jam packed with activity. It is my prayer that the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit will move profoundly in our midst at each of these gatherings.
