May 6 through May 12 is National Nurses Week. Nurses have played a vital role in my healthcare throughout the years. Back in 1986 I spent 52 days in the hospital over the course of a four-month period at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, Missouri. The nurses who cared for me during all of those days became a part of my extended family in the process. I am grateful for their compassion, their knowledge, and their professionalism.
Unfortunately, I have had to use the services of a variety of hospitals in my lifetime. I extend my gratitude to the nurses at University Hospital in Denver, Colorado, St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, Missouri, Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Festus, Missouri, and the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming most recently. I also tip my hat to all of the nurses who have crossed my path in a multitude of doctors' offices and medical clinics through the years.
Being a nurse is no easy task. If you are a nurse, please know that you have my utmost respect for the work that you do. Your ministry of caring for the sick is truly a noble profession. May God continue to bless you in your work so that the healing ministry of Christ and his Church can continue. You are making a difference in our world. Thank you!
