The weather forecast made us shift our plans a little, but it still ended up being a good day. Hynds Lodge in Curt Gowdy State Park was the original destination of our retreat. However, it was snowing significantly at 6,000 feet in Cheyenne. The snow totals could be much higher at an elevation of 7,400 feet. Thus, we opted to stay in Cheyenne.
This was the first retreat I have led in two years. It was a blessing for me, and I only hope that the retreatants found it as rewarding a I did.
This was also a memorable event for another personal reason. I preached at the opening Mass of the retreat. This was the 40th different venue where I have had the privilege of preaching at Mass. I am always amazed at the journey on which ministry has taken me through the years.
To all of the unsung heroes in parish ministry--thank you for your service to God and His Church!
