A quick glimpse at social media reminded me that some families are coping with the death of a loved one--or marking the anniversary of a loved one's death. Some are coping with a new medical diagnosis that indicates a long and difficult path ahead. Broken relationships, addictions, accidents, loss of income, and a myriad of other potential challenges may be confronting us. How do we cope?
These are just some of the common issues. Throw in things like the hurricane and we see the stress level rise for many people. Other things should not be common, but unfortunately they are. Shootings in Chicago over the Labor Day weekend totaled 43. Eight of these were fatalities. How about the 14 year old who confessed to killing all five of his family members in Alabama? What is wrong with our society?
A just and caring society begins with each of us. How will you make your corner of the world a better place today?
