I spent a good portion of my life doing manual labor in all sorts of weather conditions. Growing up on a farm provided some valuable lessons about hard work, responsibility, and caring for God's creation. I drove a tractor-trailer for eight years. Driving on snow-packed roads was never enjoyable. Chaining down the loads in frigid conditions was always an exercise in endurance as well. These experiences have all been valuable in learning different virtues throughout the years.
The weather conditions will be impacting a significant portion of the country this week. I am grateful for all of our first responders and emergency personnel who will receive a lot of calls during these circumstances. I pray for your safety. Road crews who attempt to keep our highways plowed so we can travel safely are also appreciated. All who have to work in these harsh conditions for one reason or another, please know of my prayers for you as well.
Travel safely if your region is being impacted by snow, rain, tornadoes, or other dangerous situations. Amid the shoveling, cleaning off the vehicles, extra-long commute times, and other factors creating extra stress in the midst of the storm, take some time to enjoy the beauty. Be safe!
