Some Things You Just Have To See For Yourself

What can you do with a hose, a watering can, a propane tank, and a few other odds and ends? Apparently, you can make an outdoor shower.  You won't see a set-up like this just anywhere.  It is the creative and industrious individual that can invent and construct such a masterpiece.  It blends in elegantly with the surrounding natural landscape and serves a tremendous purpose for those enjoying their outdoor activities.

Upon first glance I was a little suspicious.  Does the shower really work? Well, it not only works but it has hot water too.  As I watched the water running through the sprinkling can I realized it was able to do what it was meant to do.  It may not be the fanciest contraption in town, but it fulfills its purpose.

Put this into the concept of the Sacrament of Baptism.  How can something so simple be effective?  Whether you were baptized by immersion or by sprinkling, it was a somewhat simple process.  It consisted of the correct form and the matter--the pouring of the water and the saying of the words.  How is that able to cleanse us?  We believe in the grace of God.

Whether you were baptized in the Jordan River, a magnificent cathedral with an elegant baptismal pool, or a tiny church with a small baptismal font, you have been washed clean.  We were clothed in a white garment and told to keep that garment pure and unsullied.  We were given a candle and told to keep the Light of Christ burning brightly.  Today, I simply ask, "Are you faithfully living out your baptismal promises?"
