Being in the Grand Teton National Park, visiting the city of Jackson, Wyoming, and witnessing a friend become a U.S. citizen made for a great day. While there is plenty of work to be done in the next ten days before I move, it was important for me to make this trip to Jackson for this special event. God blessed me with a beautiful experience in more ways than one today.
This was the backdrop in which 24 people became United States citizens this morning at Grand Teton National Park. It was a true privilege to be present for such an amazing moment in the lives of these 24 people. One of the individuals is a good friend of mine, and I am extremely happy for him to have attained this status. One of the speakers at the event was the Superintendent of Grand Teton National Park, David Vela. I have heard a lot of speakers in my life, but this man was truly inspirational. I had the honor of meeting him after the event. Visiting with him reminded me of the privilege that I have each time I speak at public events. Public speakers have the opportunity to truly build people up and inspire them to greatness. David Vela certainly did that today. The Honorable Kelly Rankin, Chief United States Magistrate Judge, District of Wyoming, hears the Oath of Allegiance from the 24 individuals who are now United States citizens.
