One of the things I have really enjoyed since moving here is going to daily Mass at 12:15 P.M. This has been a tremendous blessing in the middle of the day. Stepping aside from the tasks at hand to spend time in prayer easily reminds me of why I chose to go into ministry in the first place. It truly is about building the Kingdom of God.
Today's feast day of St. Lawrence (or St. Laurence) also reminded me that even a deacon can be a saint. There is hope!!!
Actually, the liturgical calendar this week should fill all of us with hope. It has been a week filled with some great celebrations. Beginning on Monday we had the Transfiguration of the Lord. Then , it was on to St. Sixtus II and his companions, St. Dominic, St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, St. Lawrence (today), and St. Clare (tomorrow). These are all shining examples of holiness.
What can we learn from each of these examples?
