The deacon and spouse retreat this past weekend for the Diocese of Springfield--Cape Girardeau was held at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Cape Girardeau. I want to give a tip of the hat to the parishoners, staff, and clergy for their warm welcome and hospitality. The pastor even took time in his busy schedule to join us for the first session on Friday evening. (I only picked on him a little bit while he was there.) Thank you Father David Hulshof for your presence. It was a blessing to have you join us.
A lot of people work behind the scenes to make any event happen and the retreat was no exception. Deacon Rob Huff was at work in the building when I arrived getting everything set up. Family members were enlisted to help as well. The Knights of Columbus did their part with some food preparation. All the participants were willing to lend a helping hand as needed throughout the course of the weekend too. That type of hospitality help set the tone for an amazing weekend.
