Most of us understand the value and necessity of water to maintain life. It is literally life-giving. Without water we die. The waters of Baptism give us new life. As the "Elect" continue to prepare for the Easter Sacraments of Initiation let us keep them fervently in our prayers. This isn't just a ceremony or ritual they will be attending. It is a commitment to walk as a child of the Light. That is no small commitment.
The "Elect" go through a series of scrutinies during the Lenten season. These steps in the initiation process are very pertinent to those coming into the Church at Easter, but they are also relevant to the rest of us. It is a fantastic opportunity to reflect upon our own response to the call of God in our lives.
