Cheyenne, Wyoming is home to many pairs of cowboy boots. The cultural component of western living is prominent throughout the city as well as throughout the entire state. Ranchers and cowboys aren't the only ones putting on their boots. You can see people from all walks of life grasping a bit of the cowboy spirit. The cowboy boot is also featured in many pieces of art. As a matter of fact, the boot has become art in and of itself in Cheyenne.
Last week when I attended festivities at St. Mary's School I took some time to view the boot located just outside their school in front of the playground. I had driven past the boot on numerous occasions but had never stopped to look at the detail. I decided it was time to investigate the boot up close and personal. Decorative boots like this are scattered around Cheyenne and each has a story to tell. Since the boot stands about seven feet tall it has quite a canvas upon which to paint a story. The boot in front of St. Mary's School tells a story of faith. Even the spur is involved in sharing the Gospel message.
