It has been my desire for almost twenty years now to own my own retreat facility. I also need the money to keep it running. Whether it is set up as a nonprofit organization or retained as a private business, income from retreats alone is generally insufficient to stay fiscally solvent. Unless the property is generating income from other revenue streams, it will most likely be a negative cash flow. Thus, I need enough money left over after the purchase to keep it operational.
The state of Wyoming needs a retreat center somewhere in the state. Having gatherings for religious purposes in hotel settings is just not the same as being on a campus specifically designed and established as a retreat center. The people of Wyoming would benefit greatly from having such a center. Although I would personally prefer a spot near the beach in a warm climate, I would build and operate a retreat center in Wyoming if I won the lottery. (However, if someone wants to buy the property in Florida pictured above, and give it to me for establishing a retreat center, I would not turn it down.)
These past 15 months have reminded me of the necessity of spiritual renewal beyond the church setting. My dream of owning a retreat center is still alive. I realize that with each passing year I am getting older and the possibility fades in the process. (I am also not buying lottery tickets on a regular basis.) However, I keep watching for smaller properties with potential that I could possibly afford for making this dream a reality.
Faith the size of a mustard seed can uproot a tree and plant it in the sea. Can that same faith provide the necessary means to obtain a retreat center? I believe all things are possible with God.
How have you nurtured your faith life today?
