It has been a full week, and it isn't over yet. The naming of our new bishop earlier this week added quite a lot to my already full schedule. On Friday night I also had the pleasure of attending the Cheyenne Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet. That was my first time attending that event. I don't frequently get to be involved in things outside the "church arena," and it was good to see the community in a wider lens for this one evening. Our community is blessed with many dedicated small business owners who are striving to make our community stronger.
The women's retreat went from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. today, and now I am waiting to preach at the weekend Masses at the Cathedral of St. Mary to begin our parish mission. We have one Mass on Saturday evening and five Masses on Sunday. There is still much to do this weekend.
The first scrutiny is celebrated this weekend for those individuals preparing to come into the Church at Easter. The scrutinies are excellent opportunities for all of us to examine why we are followers of Christ. There is a special emphasis this week on the Creed. When was the last time you sat down and studied the twelve articles of faith listed in the Creed? This week would be a good time to do so.
